Artwork By Michael Stohlmeyer Is Available At Gallery 319, Ames, Iowa.

Born and raised in Iowa, Michael makes his residence in Ames. He was educated at Iowa State University, where he received his degree in art design. He has won several awards, and his work is in many private and corporate collections.

Michael Stohlmeyer paints in a style that is a blend of realism and impressionism. Working almost exclusively in oils, his art shows the influence of several schools of painting. He is especially interested in the 19th century "impressionists", who gave the world some of the most joyful painting in history. His subject matter ranges from Midwest landscapes to figure studies to European venues. Color is an important emphasis in his work.

He has a special regard for the wonderful old barns and other farm structures that have been so characteristic of Iowa's rural landscape. Because these fascinating, historic buildings are disappearing so quickly, rendering them on canvas before they are gone is of particular interest to him.

Michael strives to express the beauty to be found in all of creation, from the simplicity of commonplace scenes to nature's more grand displays.
