Fiber Art By Diane Corson Is Available At Gallery 319, Ames, Iowa.

"I have been knitting since I was 10, when my grandmother put yarn and needles in my hands and taught me the basics. I've been in love with the craft ever since. I work mostly in natural fibers - wool, mohair, alpaca and cashmere are favorites - and specialize in small wearables such as bags, hats, gloves, mittens and socks. I enjoy incorporating handspun and hand-dyed material into my work, and frequently use dyestuffs from my garden to produce subtle, muted colors that simply can't be duplicated commercially.

Felting, a challenging technique that has been called 'controlled disaster' is another method I enjoy using to create hats, bags and other accessories that are sturdy, warm and have unique character all their own.

All of my work is made entirely by hand, and no two pieces are ever alike."
